No One Ever Asked by Katie Ganshert

Format: Hardcover

Just know before you start that this is a very intense book that deals realistically with issues of race, jealousy, sexual harassment, as well as adoption in the context of Christian faith. Nothing is glossed over, it deals with real people with real issues. It touches on the difficulties of parenting and all that goes with that: worry, blindness to their child’s behavior, struggles with wanting to do their very best, yet failing to meet their own expectations. I really enjoyed this, more than anything I’ve read recently

MY REVIEW

I was blessed to recieved an advance copy of this book and am so glad I did. It was all that it promised and more. Jack Stratton is vulnerable, intense, devoted to finding truth, and yet he really struggles continually with his sense of self worth because of his past. When Jack was a teenager he was about to enter the army. This is essentially his first case. Although I’ve never read a Christopher Greyson novel prior to this one, I was very impressed and will continue to read his books. ThIs was a page turner and a sweet romance mixed in with the intrigue. Well done

The Amish Midwife’s Secret by Rachel J. Good

About the book

Kyle Miller never planned on becoming a country doctor. But when he’s offered a medical practice in his sleepy hometown, Kyle knows he must return… and face the painful past he left behind. Except the Amish community isn’t quite ready for Kyle. Especially the pretty midwife who refuses to compromise her traditions with his modern medicine.

The more Leah Stoltzfus works with the handsome Englisch doctor, the more she finds herself caught between the expectations of her family and her own hopes for the future. It will take one surprising revelation and one helpless baby in need of love to show Leah and Kyle that their bond may be greater than their differences if Leah can find the courage to follow her heart.

My review

This was a sweet tale of love, betrayal, forgiveness and ask the entanglements of real life. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and hated for it to end. Thank you Rachel J. Good for writing such an incredible book!!

The Secret Journals Of Adolph Hitler

What happenings and environments wrought the most hated man in history? How does a child become a young man who evolved into a self-proclaimed messiah? Why did this one man become a psychotic who was responsible for the deaths of more than 50 million people?

This book follows the first, formative years of Adolf Hitler’s life. Presented as a personal journal, this is a fact-supported re-telling of a desperate existence, as viewed by Hitler, and tracks the points of pain that forged his beliefs. From a childhood of abuse and cheating death to an agonizing unrequited love to torturous years as a beggar in Vienna to finally finding his destiny. Enflamed by delusions, Hitler embraced the powers he believed guided his life.

This is a story of dire happenstances that broke a mind and spirit, created beliefs that twisted innocence, ultimately morphing into a malicious brew that changed the world forever.

This is the one story that’s never been told.

A.G. Mogan has written an incredible book based on years of research, to bring you to a greater understanding of what Hitlers life was like, what events conspired to create the monster he became. I highly recommend this first volume to you! Keep an eye out for volumes two and three. She is truly a very gifted writer!

The Covering by Dana Pratola

The Covering

“What do a woman of faith and a heathen biker have in common? The devil, of course. Tessa is moved to intercede for a man she’s never met. When they do meet, she’s stunned. Gunnar is gorgeous, charismatic, and driven. He’s also hostile, self-destructive, and an unbeliever… and she’s drawn to him like no other. The temptation she feels is as dangerous as it is alluring. She wants to stay away, but God has other plans. He reveals the devil’s intent to destroy Gunnar, and commissions Tessa to keep him covered in prayer. Can she rely on God to keep her from falling… in love, and into temptation? Or will the devil claim them both?”

This was a really well written book. It’s real life Christianity. I could appreciate Tessa’s dilemma as a woman drawn to an unbeliever. She stays true to her convictions and continues to pray for Gunner, even before she met him, God had her praying for him. It gives a glimpse into the spiritual battle for our souls. Highly recommended!

Soldier’s Daughters by Fiona Field

Soldiers’ Daughters

SynopsisA wonderfully gripping follow-up to Fiona Field’s first novel, bringing back many of the characters from Soldiers’ Wives

The two girls seem to have a lot in common on the surface. Both motherless. Both sent to the same boarding school for “army brats.” Both, later, commissioned into the army themselves. Both desperate for their fathers’ love and approval. Samantha Lewis will put everything into being the good soldier she thinks her father wants her to be. But her heart will lead her in a very unexpected direction and threaten her love for the good man she plans to marry. Michelle Flowers also craves her father’s attention, but her impulsiveness will drive her into an obsession with the husband of another woman—with disastrous consequences.

Review: This book captivated me from page 1. I read it over the course of several days and give it a strong thumbs up! It took me awhile to adjust to the British vernacular and I felt the foul language could have been toned down a bit, but Fiona is an incredible writer!! It never got slow or boring, it had enough twists and turns to keep me turning the pages. I kept wanting Michelle to stop her nonsense and rooted for Sam, especially when she was in Kenya. This book has an excellent cast of characters with stories of their own. You have to give it a read! I look forward to reading this authors future books!!

I was given a complimentary copy of this book to review.

Justified by Varina Denman

Justified: A Novel (Mended Hearts Series)

Synopsis: In a small Texas town ruled by gossip, Fawn Blaylock believes others are justified in condemning her untimely pregnancy. Stifled by guilt, she yearns for grace while the local football coach treats her with gentle respect.

Justified perfectly captures the rhythm and romance of life in a small town, telling the unforgettable story of a woman searching for renewal, a man looking beyond what others see, and a community torn between judgment and love. It is the unforgettable story of broken dreams, second chances, and relentless hope.

Review: This book captivated me from the get-go. There were lots of twists and turns. Fawn’s ex-boyfriend does all in his power to get her back and their unborn child back. Coach on the other hand was caring, supportive, and genuinely caring. To make a point and to distance herself from her wealthy parents, she makes the decision to rent a run down home. How difficult to find yourself pregnant, suddenly single, and trusting God for your future. I would highly recommend Justified.
